Conducted in Lisbon on the occasion of the launch of the Portuguese translation of The Names of History: On the Poetics of Knowledge [Les Mots de l’histoire. Essai de poétique du savoir] (As palavras da História. Ensaio de poética do saber, Unipop, 2014), this interview with Jacques Rancière asks the author about the ways in which this book is part of an intellectual trajectory in which an understanding of the gaps produced by emancipatory practices has been coupled with an identification of the gaps with the disciplinary schemas of history and philosophy.
