One of the main goals of health information systems is to promote continuity of care, for which it is necessary to fulfill the requirements and the contents that enables its interoperability between the various intervening.</p><p><strong>Objetive: </strong>Understand the existing evidence regarding the advantages of a shared information system in nursing.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A literature review was carried out, using the platform EBSCOhost with the search for the keywords “shar* information” present in the title AND “nursing” present in the abstract.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The existence of a shared information system has advantages to the patient, to the caregiver and to health professional, which includes improving communication between health professionals and patients/caregivers and the possibility of keeping them informed about their condition, promoting their literacy and ability to adhere to the treatment plan, as well as the adherence to healthy behaviours.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>The existence of a quality information system, made available in a simple, uniform and secure way, allows access to health data in a controlled manner, both by health professionals and citizens, facilitating the monitoring of health status.</p> ER -
