OS MOTIVOS DA NÃO ADESÃO À 2ª CONSULTA NA ESCOLA DE MEDICINA TRADICIONAL CHINESA

A não adesão ao tratamento é um assunto polémico na área da saúde, que envolve todos os operadores e que não é da exclusiva responsabilidade do paciente. A qualidade dos cuidados de saúde depende consideravelmente da adesão ou não adesão dos pacientes aos tratamentos recomendados. Neste processo complexo de análise, é crucial o desenvolvimento de meios precisos de avaliação da adesão/não adesão, como dos factores que a influenciam.

O presente estudo pretendeu explorar quais os principais motivos indicados pelos pacientes da Clínica da Escola de Medicina Tradicional Chinesa (ESMTC), para a não comparência à 2ª consulta. Para os pacientes que apenas vieram a uma consulta entre 1 de setembro de 2011 e 31 de julho de 2012, realizou-se uma entrevista telefónica, na qual se questionou sobre os motivos de não comparência à 2ª consulta, segundo questionário modelo criado para o efeito.

Os resultados obtidos, revelaram que 29% dos pacientes que vieram à 1ª consulta no período em análise, não compareceram na 2ª consulta. Os pacientes que não vieram à 2ª consulta, foram principalmente pacientes do sexo feminino, residentes em Lisboa e com uma média de idade de 47 anos. Os principais motivos da não adesão à 2ª consulta, foram o tratamento e a questão económica, enquanto a incompatibilidade de horário foi o motivo menos referido.

ABSTRACT

In the health sector the lack of adherence to the treatment is a controversial topic that not only involves the patient but everyone else. The quality of healthcare depends considerably on the adherence or non-adherence of the patients to the recommended treatments. In this complex process, it is crucial a progress in the evaluation methods of the adherence/non-adherence and the factors that influence them.

This paper attempts to explore the key motifs indicated by the patients of the clinic Escola de Medicina Tradicional Chinesa (ESMTC), for not being present in the 2nd appointment. For the patients who only went to one appointment from 1st of September 2011 until the 31st of July 2012., an interview was made via telephone, where questions were made about the reasons for not coming to the 2nd appointment. 

The results obtained revealed that 29% of the patients that came to the 1st appointment, in the period above mentioned, did not appear in the 2nd appointment. The majority of patients that did not return to the 2nd appointment were females, living in Lisbon and with an average age of 47 years. While the incompatibility in the patient’s schedule was the least referred motif, the main motifs for the lack of adhesion in the 2nd appointment were the treatment and the financial problem.
