The article is organised around a central question: in the current scenario in which the processes through which graduates achieve professional insertion are increasingly complex and uncertain, to what extent are the choices they make over the course of their academic trajectory influenced by reasons and considerations linked to their (future) occupation? In an initial section, the authors explain this question and the grounds for it in the light of the challenges facing higher education today. They then go on to present empiric data from a systematisation of various studies on the professional insertion of graduates that were carried out between 2000 and 2010.Downloads
