Values are discussed in their ethological, psychological and cultural dimensions. Moral diversity, associated to the distinction of humans and non humans, is understood as resulting from ethocognitive, social and cultural dispositions. These latter condition the emergence of different cultural regimes. Moral narratives allow the enlargement of these dispositions to contemporary extended social and environmental contexts.
