Nupcialidade e fecundidade na região da Madalena (ilha do Pico). Um estudo de demografia diferencial.
Abstract
In this study, we have analysed the information extracted from reccords of birhs, marriages and deaths in six azorean communities from Pico Island, using the “parishes reconstitution” methodology.
The main purpose is describing the evolution of regional nupciality and fertility, from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries, and pointing out specific behaviours in different occupational groups. The results obtained indicate strong contrasts in age at marriage, marital fertility, family size and sterility levels.
