Partindo de alguns dos desafios atuais relativos à produção de etnografias e ao processo de construção do conhecimento em Antropologia Social e Cultural, reflete-se neste texto sobre o modo como numa investigação etnográfica específica, distante da tradicional circunscrição geográfica, foram encontradas soluções, em termos metodológicos, para analisar a temática em estudo (processo social ligado à divulgação da macrobiótica e práticas e representações em torno da mesma). Discute-se o processo de produção etnográfica, a construção de conhecimentos e a questão da validade científica.

Starting from some of the current challenges on the production of ethnographies and the construction process of knowledge in Social and Cultural Anthropology, this text shows how in a specific ethnographic research, away from the traditional geographic boundary, solutions were found, in methodological terms, to analyze the issue under study (social process linked to the dissemination of macrobiotic and existing practices and representations around it). It is discussed the ethnographic production process, the construction of knowledge and the scientific validity.
