«Somos um bocado marginalizados» / «Somos nós que marginalizamos os outros»: estratégias plurigeracionais de construção de identidades migrantes portuguesas em Paris
Abstract
Focusing upon the construction process of an «imagined Portuguese community», we aim to understand and analyse the identity processes and strategies mobilised by the members of a Portuguese immigrant association in Paris, France. The «imagined Portuguese community», expressed through participation in the «rancho», primarily functions as a spacefor the production of identity. The migrant identities of our informants are thus defined in a neither-here-nor-there space, an «imagined Portugal», where the most significant value is intergenerational sacrifice.Downloads
