Agenda 2000: uma oportunidade histórica – uma leitura centrada na ideia de progresso
Abstract
The paper discusses the concept of progress that underlies the idea of Europe, as adopted within the construction of the European Union. For the purpose, documents produced by the EU for the “Agenda 2000” will be analysed, searching for topics based upon a view of history directly or indirectly associated with the idea of the millennium. An incursion in the meaning the first millennium had for the people of the Middle Ages will also be made, given that Christendom is still evoked today, by some of the builders of the European Union, as a historical root for the idea of Europe.Downloads
