Through the looking glass – historical production, photographic representation and the sense of place in Porto’s old city
Abstract
The paper presented here is part of a wider research project that, departing from a phenomenological informed anthropology, aimed at identifying the different constructs that different social groups have of Porto’s old part, and to see how this urban area plays a role in the construction of a sense of belongingness to Porto. The referred to analysis of a construction of a sense of place is presented in this paper through the practice of photography and respective representational systems of two groups: the city council tourism services and inhabitants of old Porto.Downloads
