La segregación espacial de los inmigrados: cuestiones básicas
Abstract
A dynamic aspect of the life in the Spanish urban areas today is the existence of an important immigrated populationconcentrated in specific areas of the cities. The subject of the residential segregation has been examined by the
social sciences in the last forty years. Six fundamental questions can be formulated: what is segregation? How can it
be measured? Where does it occur? Why does it exist? What are its consequences? What can be done about it? Each of
these questions will be considered in this article, for the Spanish case.
