Abstract

This paper aims to highlight the self-perception of old age by lonely elderly people. The daily practices of old age 
pensioners that attend a Day Centre in an urban context were studied, in order to analyse the interactions 
established with their own relatives and their Day Centre peers. Particular attention was also paid to the relevance 
of the institutional support, to their self-perceptions of old age and to their own experiences.
