Emigração e saúde: um estudo de portuguesas reformadas em Ottawa-Canada
Abstract
In this article, an attempt is made to describe and discuss the personal experiences, as well as the health perceptions and practices of Canadian-Portuguese elderly women living in the Ottawa region. The resultsindicate that, without exception, all these women had a rather difficult life trajectory however, after retirement, they recognize apositive increase in life satisfaction. Their perceptions of a healthy life style include diverse dimensions: it is physical, mental and spiritual. Finally, they also refer that a balanced nutrition, medical consultation, and physical/social activities are important health practices.Downloads
