Abstract

This is an article dedicated to the study of the Yanomamy mythology. The author presents a model according to which the Yanomamy mythical tales referring their origins are an attempt to explain the construction of the universe, to understand it, and also to determine the place of other cultures within its space. This pattern is not just typical of the so-called "primitive" societies; all societies need to have one reference system in order to establish their identities.
