Abstract

This article aims to explain the design and organization of resident participation that we experienced in different rehabilitation operations or urban redevelopment of social housing districts. The control of these operations was provided by social housing organizations or local communities. After clarifying the different forms of participation that can be implemented, we present the principles that we believe should underpin the implementation of the processes of participation. We then develop the design of these processes which seem most relevant and the most effective, and at the end of this methodological presentation we illustrate our comments by a concrete example of a participatory process that we contributed to at the request of the OPAC of Paris, as part of a redevelopment the urban space of a neighborhood of 700 dwellings.
