Urban Rehabilitation: Recent Polis Programme Experiences

Abstract

This article describes the various urban renewal programmes in Portugal and proposes a grid of fundamental principles for the success of renovation interventions. Four very recent experiences of four candidate projects for the Polis Programme, a city renewal programme, are described and analyzed in the light of the planning tradition of each city.
