Abstract

Knowledge of urban mobility is important for urban research, allowing us to understand how individuals adapt to different changes in society economic activity, private life, technical progress or urbanization modes. The study of residential mobility, which can be dissociated from other forms of mobility, such as daily mobility, is a good indicator of the profound social, demographic, political realms that cross the urban world. Mobility has been the subject of numerous studies and surveys by demographers, economists, geographers, historians, statisticians, sociologists. But, even with though these entreprises enabled considerable progress in knowledge of mobility, there are still problems involved in understanding the mechanisms and the analysis and measurement of mobility itself.
