To apprehend the Perfomativity: Towards a deconstruction of the process of discursive production
Keywords:
performativity, action, representation, subjectivity, context, discursive geographyAbstract
Progressively imposed by Austin, Benveniste, Elias and Derrida or even Bourdieu, perfomance urges us to rethink space through representations. Far from being exhaustive, the geographical adaptation of the concept proposed here is inspired by the reflections on the context (Giddens), on the body and sexuality (Butler) and power (Foucault) in order to find a more concrete way of thinking about relations between the determination of social structures and human action. This conceptual tool enables, in a geography of everyday life to think of subjectivity, the incorporation and social identity, nationality and ethnicity, authority in the exercise of power and social position, and it is also useful to understand the effectiveness of the action and show how this action, understood as a continuum of practices, is a dynamic process that allows us to undertake a geo-graphic movement to think in another way the social space and the territory.
