The Decision to Migrate: Portugal as the Destination of Eastern European Immigration at the Turn of the Century

The decision to migrate is the result of a complex process of imagination and negotiation through which social actors construct the paths that will lead them to a new life in another country. In this article we will try to understand why a number of Eastern European citizens have immigrated to Portugal, articulating the structural dimensions that affect human action with the micro-sociological aspects that guide this action.
