Abstract

The aims of this work were to estimate genetic parameters and correlations between yield components and plant architecture in genotypes of Vigna unguiculata, in order to select characters for use in breeding plant. Thus, characters of production components and architecture of plants were evaluated - beginning of flowering, pod length, number of grains per pod, weight of hundred grains, peduncle length, height of the first pod, number of pods per plant and yield grain – and the genetic parameters - coefficient correlation phenotypic, genotypic and environmental, coefficient of genetic variation, experimental coefficient of variation, coefficient of genetic determination and quotient b - were estimated: The studied population has a potential for selection and further gains by mating based on phenotype for all traits. It is possible to obtain premature genotypes with higher grain yield through indirect selection for the number of pods per plant.
