Abstract

Tangerines growth is based on a limited number of varieties and hybrids. In this context, the present work was developed with the purpose of evaluating the acceptance and intention to buy a new hybrid of tangerine, Fremont IAC 543, in the States of São Paulo and Paraná. The sensory study was carried out in the Mercadão da Prochet, in Londrina/PR, and Free Fair of the old Railroad, in Mogi Mirim/SP, applying the acceptability test and purchase intention by means of hedonic scales of nine and five points, respectively. Participated 112 untrained tasters in each location, who analyzed the tangerine fruit in relation to attributes: appearance, aroma, texture, taste, overall impression and intention to purchase the product. The fruit showed good acceptance, with a score ranging from 6 (moderately liked) to 9 (extremely liked) and acceptance rate above 70% and 50% in the States of São Paulo and Paraná, respectively, with more than 90% of tasters, of both States, saying they would buy the fruits for consumption. In this way concluded that Fremont IAC 543 tangerine fruits resulted in acceptance and high purchase intention by consumers, mainly in the state of São Paulo.
