Abstract

Some business and research activities on upland cotton crop were carried out in Portugal in the middle of the XX century as well and in the first years of the XXI century, in order to introduce this crop in the south irrigated crop systems. However, environmental growing constrains, like low temperature at sowing and low temperature and raining during maturation and harvest, as well as national and European political options, determine crop abandon. In the present notes we collect and resume some information available about both those time periods.
