Abstract

The municipality of Calenga stands out as the largest producer of vegetables in the province of Huambo. In spite of vegetables being currently the largest in income, there is nevertheless a great imbalance between the quantities produced and the levels of income and economic development of the people of this region. There is no plan allowing an assessment of production costs and best periods for production and marketing of certain products. The system of trade and access to large consumer markets by the farmer himself is weak, which means selling their products at the commune at prices too low. The objective of this work is to find solutions that will enable farmers in the commune of Calenga to overcome some of their constraints and at the same time to improve their income.
