Abstract

Fungi of the genus Trichoderma present potential to control plant pathogens and promote plant growth. Researches with different cultures prove this capacity and aggregate information about these bioagents action mechanism, however, the mechanisms of action in the promotion of growth in the absence of plant pathogens are still little known. The mass production of trichoderma has become a research and industrial development focus in the search for alternatives to chemical treatments for the control of plant diseases caused by microorganisms present in the soil and seeds. But, the scarcity of properly registered formulations, have been a serious obstacle in the utilization of bioproducts in Brazil. This review contributes to clarifying the trichoderma action mechanisms in the promotion of vegetal growth, in absence and presence of soil pathogens and makes an updated analysis about the introduction of biological formulations in the Brazilian market.
