The assessment of soil on slopes drag due to rain or irrigation is a fundamental activity in agricultural and environmental studies. For their study teams often use tilting cups. Its design is simple, reliable operation. However, they have some limitations such as loss of accuracy in situations of high runoff or wind and the difficulty of field installation. To cancel these drawbacks, in this work, the cups were replaced by a rotary horizontal cylinder axially divided into two half cylinders. The moment for the rotation is determined alternatively with a level control and it is is activated by a gear motor. The equipment works under 12VDC with low energy consumption. The design is scalable by simply replacing the receiving cylinder.
