Interrill erodibility and its relationship with attributes of Cerrado soils

Abstract

The objective of this work was to determine in field the interrill erodibility (Ki) in soils of the Cerrado Mato-Grossense and find physical characteristics that better correlate and are predictors of Ki. The work was developed in six areas contemplating soil textures sandy, medium and clayey and the following uses: pasture (Pp1 and Pp2), agricultural (Ap1, Ap2 and Ap3) and Cerrado (C1). The study consisted in the physical characterization of the soils; determination of the interrill erodibility (Ki) using field rain simulator and evaluation of the correlation between Ki and soil characteristics. Statistical treatment of the data consisted in the application of the Kruskal-Wallis test and Pearson’s correlation between variables. The mean values Ki ranged from 8,56x104 to 1,32x106 Kg.s.m-4. The Ki was higher in Ap2 than in C1. Larger correlations between Ki and soil physical characteristics were obtained by grouping soils by textural classes. The attributes coarse sand, very fine sand, medium sand, weighted average diameter and stability index of the aggregates present a higher prediction potential of Ki.
