Abstract

This study appears in the context of the application of germination tests to samples of tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) seeds of the red and orange strains, post-harvest of the ripe fruits, to serve as a comparison term to the viability tests of ex situ seeds conserved. Germination tests were carried out in Petri dishes with two treatments that were distinguished by the total absence of light and a photoperiod of 16h of light and 8h of darkness, in a total of six repetitions of ten seeds. The results showed the existence of differences in promotion of Solanum betaceum seeds germination. The germination conditions were decisive, being evident that there is sensitivity to light from the seeds of this species.
