Abstract

The vegetable loofah has been increasingly commercialized, however, this culture still has many limitations in studies that can contribute to reaching its production potential. One of the most delicate stages of a culture is the seedling production phase, especially when it comes to the quality of the substrate to produce vigorous seedlings. In this presupposition, the present research had as objective to evaluate the potential of substrates based on soil and carnauba bagana in the production of plant loofah seedlings. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse with 70% shading. The experimental design was completely randomized, with six treatments, composed of soil and carnauba bagana, each treatment with four replications. Data were submitted to analysis of variance using the “F” test and the means were submitted to regression analysis, adjusting to linear and polynomial models using the computer program Sisvar version 5.6. In view of the data analysis, it was possible to verify that the carnauba bagana can be used as a constituent of substrate for the production of plant loofah seedlings. The substrate has greater potential when composed of 60% carnauba bagana + 40% soil.
