Introduction: Pregnancy loss is a traumatic event that affects women and families worldwide. It also impacts healthcare professionals, who must manage their own emotions while providing care.
Objective: To map the perspectives and experiences of nurse-midwives regarding pregnancy loss.
Methodology: A scoping review was conducted based on the principles recommended by the Joanna Briggs Institute and the PCC mnemonic device. The search was performed in PubMed®, CINAHL®, SCOPUS®, y BVS® databases.
Results: Twelve studies were included, highlighting the underestimation of the emotional impact on healthcare professionals, the lack of specific training and communication skills, and the need for specific protocols addressing pregnancy loss.
Conclusion: Providing healthcare professionals with adequate resources is essential to promote their well-being and ensure empathetic, humanized care practices in the context of pregnancy loss.
