Abstract

Work occupies most part of the adult life. In this opinion article we use the descriptive method to convey our experience about what makes the nurse feel cared for when providing care for the People entrusted to him/her. We were moved by the conviction that effective leadership facilitates the improvement of the functioning of nursing teams and, consequently, of nursing care. Thus, in this reflection we aim to motivate the human resources nurse managers to make the interaction between the organizational and personal goals of their team’s nurses compatible, optimizing health outcomes sensitive to the care provided by nurses. We have given particular relevance to the need to manage the processes of motivation, leadership, professional training, guidance and caregiving to the nurses. Based on this report of our experience, grounded on the results from the scarce bibliographical references, we conclude that taking care of those who provide care improves professional performance, supports human, technical and conceptual competence, while encouraging the capacity to innovate.
