Abstract

Introduction: The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has had a serious impact on people's lives. (Tele)rehabilitation can be an opportunity in health service delivery, minimizing functional decline and optimizing recovery.

Objective/s: To describe the gains in knowledge and learning skills in symptom control and functional recovery with a (Tele)rehabilitation program in a person with functional disability after COVID-19 infection. Methods: Case study with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The sample consisted of a 56-year-old man in post-COVID-19 recovery. Inclusion criteria: COVID-19 diagnosis, internet access, and no disabling comorbidities. Two weekly (Tele)Rehabilitation sessions were conducted via video call, complemented with muscle strengthening and balance training exercises twice a week. Parameters assessed: modified BORG Scale, BERG Scale, LCADL, MRC, CAT, and HADS.

Results: There were gains in respiratory symptom control, balance, reduced anxiety and depression, and improved daily living activities..

Conclusion: (Tele)Rehabilitation can bring significant benefits in functional recovery, respiratory symptom control, balance, and mental health, contributing to home recovery and avoiding (re)hospitalization.
