The health status of the population reflects not only the responsiveness and quality of the health sector, but also the progress that exists in society in economic and social terms. Having a cumulative and intersectoral nature, health is the result of a set of social determinants (e.g., education, income, etc.) and not only of the investment in health care. This paper analyses briefly the course of strategic planning in Portugal, as well as some indicators of the health status of the population, trying to identify and understand changes that have occurred in recent years.Downloads
