Breve olhar sobre o estado da saúde em Portugal

O estado de saúde da população reflete, não só a capacidade de resposta e qualidade do setor da saúde, mas também o progresso que se verifica na sociedade em termos económicos e sociais. Tendo uma natureza cumulativa e intersetorial, a saúde resulta de um conjunto de determinantes sociais (por exemplo, educação, rendimento, etc.) e não apenas do investimento na prestação de cuidados de saúde. Neste artigo analisa-se brevemente o percurso do planeamento estratégico em Portugal, assim como alguns indicadores do estado de saúde da população, procurando identificar e compreender mudanças que tenham ocorrido nos últimos anos.
