Abstract

Has AIDS really brought us new and different problems, if we compare it to historical epidemics, such as the plague? Based on twenty years' experience of the epidemic, as a doctor and researcher, the writer summons the «voices of the epidemic» and highlights the effect of AIDS on the relation-ship between science and health-care policies, and how it has raised new ethical issues.
