In the post WWII political context of «economic stabilisation», the search for new regulating instruments in the policies of the supply of fish stands out. The most notable aspect of the group of new solutions was the promotion and introduction of frozen fish to the continental Portuguese market in 1957. This article attempts to discuss the following question: what were the coordinates of Salazar's post WWII policy on fish supply and how could these options and their obvious political reasons be articulated with the deficiencies and lack of planning for a complete cold storage network?
