In the centre (of either the city or Metropolitan Area), locations are becoming bereft of residents, and the population's progressive ageing is particularly intense. Peripheral areas, especially the LMA, present a different situation, with some districts displaying very high population increases, and a relatively stable ageing of the different age groups. These notes focus especially on the description of these contrasts, taking a two-fold look at the city of Lisbon: both as one of the LMA's 18 districts, and as an entity made up of 53 municipalities.
