In a history of the women of the Atlantic, the exiles to Angola are amongst the many who arrived and lived on African soils, few of them returning and most of them dying there. Blacks, whites and those of mixed race all experienced long and difficult processes. The social classes mostly represented amongst the convicted women and indeed, the proportion of exiled women in comparison to the number of exiled men in general, are both possibilities explored in an analysis of the data presented here.
