The implantation and development in Portugal of the modern Anaesthesiology is a successful event, based on the continuous improvement of the new areas of expertise, the permanent adoption of innovation and a broad continuous medical education. Many papers has been published relating important steps on this
story. Their analysis allows an interesting sight on the evolution of Anaesthesiology as a medical specialty and an academic discipline.
A selected number of articles published in Portuguese language are presented by date of appearance and all of them are accompanied by an original short brief commentary
