Sebastanismo/Sebastianismos? (em torno do mito sebástico)

Abstract

Sebastianism is a strictly Portuguese religion, an assertion which the Message of Fernando Pessoa grounds. However, names as those of Garrett, Antero de Quental, Guerra Junqueiro, Teixeira de Pascoaes, Oliveira Martins or António Nobre also constitute an important repository for the study of this myth. Though more or less hidden, there are still
vestiges of the sebastic inebriety, at the turn of the millennium. Also, bearing in mind the relation between literature and society, and from a sociological perspective, revivalism can be traced in multiple attitudes and behaviours of the contemporary society.
