In this work we try to study the historical transformations that the use of drugs had during times. We will speak ofthe process of commerce and discovery of many chemical substances. Then we will listen to the works of several
writers that describe their experiences with some substances. At last, we reference the appearing of communities of
drug addicts with high levels of psycho-social deterioration that exemplify the experience with drugs as a tragic
one. All this work will help us to understand, in his complexity, the experience of drug use as a discovery and
alienation of the self. The anthropological dilemma that nowadays the drug users have to deal with.
