Abstract

Brazil stands out on the global stage for its forefront in the exploitation of oil and gas (O&G), however this improvement have created a foreign technological dependence and an under-utilization of the domestic industry. With the pre-salt discoveries, Brazil has a chance to join the select group of the largest producers in the world. However, this scenario brings challenges mainly related to meet competitive demands of extreme complexity. Through the use of strategic prospective analysis, specifically the Scenario Method, it was possible to identify the main factors that influence the competitive development of companies in this sector located in the the O&G cluster in the Campos Basin and how these factors relate to the dynamics of evolution of the research context. It was perceived as a limitation of this work the fact of some influential factors which currently has greatly impacted the Brazilian O&G sector were not considered when this research was conducted, as an example the drop in the price of oil and the political crisis involving Petrobras. Despite the limitations identified, it is expected that the results guide the actors involved in the competitive dynamics of the O&G sector Brazilian process.
