Abstract

The objective of the article is to present actors involved in the processes of elaboration, management and evaluation of social policies with the virtues of social analysis of urban space as a tool capable of identifying the possible role of the effects of segmentation and segregation in the process of reproducing inequalities and poverty. The article analyzes the conceptual, methodological and technical issues related to the use of this tool, describing the history of its constitution and presenting, in a synthetic way, the methodology applied within the research network "Metropolis: spatial inequalities and urban governance".
