Abstract

The article briefly presents some of the main results of the Project "Eastern European immigrants in Portugal: from migration to insertion", developed by the CESIS- Centre for Studies on Social Intervention, for Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. In the case of a very recent migratory current, the availability of characterization data is still very insipid. As such, it is preferable, in the text, to present some global characterization data regarding this population. The focus is mainly on family structures, reasons to migrate and return perspectives, residence context, deprivation state, levels of education, language skills in the Portuguese language, and professional integration.
