Correlações significativas na segregação residencial de cidades médias: o caso de Ciudad Real (Espanha)

Resumo

No campo dos estudos urbanos, a segregação residencial tem sido tradicionalmente considerada como um fenômeno intimamente ligado à desigualdade social. Entretanto, pesquisas recentes realizadas no contexto europeu demonstraram empiricamente que essa relação é muito mais complexa. Sob essa perspectiva, este artigo se concentra em Ciudad Real, cidade de médio porte de Castilla-La Mancha. Observa-se que as cidades de médio porte apresentam níveis mais baixos de segregação residencial do que as grandes áreas urbanas, mas com uma diferença acentuada entre as rendas alta e baixa. Este artigo enfatiza a importância dos estudos de caso para entender a relação entre segregação residencial e desigualdade social, e como um aumento na desigualdade nem sempre se traduz em maior segregação. Reconhece-se a relevância de abordar a segregação residencial em cidades de médio porte para entender melhor esse fenômeno em nível global. Além disso, destaca-se a importância da Geografia como disciplina fundamental para abordar as disparidades socioespaciais e promover a equidade nas cidades. Nesse contexto, destaca-se a complexidade das relações entre segregação e desigualdade, ressaltando a importância de estabelecer correlações significativas para entender os padrões de diferenciação socioespacial nessas cidades. A necessidade de estudar a segregação residencial em uma escala inframunicipal é levantada para uma análise mais detalhada.
