Carmen Ortiz Garcia é Investigadora Cientifca do Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientifcas (CSIC), trabalha no Instituto de Lengua, Literatura y Antropologia, del Centro de Ciencias Humanas y Sociales (Madrid), onde integra o Grupo de Investigación Antropológica sobre Patrimonio y Culturas Populares (GIAP). O texto aqui apresentado fala do “Arquivo del Duelo” (“Arquivo da Dor”), cuja fnalidade é documentar em arquivo e analisar as demonstraç8es de dor que tiveram lugar após os atentados de 11 de Março em Madrid. O arquivo persegue um objectivo duplo: por um lado, contribuir para a construção da memória, incorporando as demonstrações de dor, cujo carácter efémero e anónimo as torna perecíveis, oferecendo à sociedade a possibilidade de conservar exemplos individuais e colectivos de manifestações de dor.
