This study examines factors that predict sustainable behaviours among participants and spectators during the Central American Championship of Skating and Skateboarding and analyses how these behaviours influence future sustainable intentions. A total of 141 individuals (58.5% spectators, 41.5% participants; M age = 30.33 ± 12.9 years) completed a self-administered questionnaire comprising 40 items adapted from previously validated instruments. Two predictive models were tested using multiple linear regression. The first model assessed the extent to which past sustainable behaviours, internal and external constraints, and perceptions of sustainable initiatives predicted sustainable behaviour during the event. The second model examined whether sustainable behaviour during the event and satisfaction with sustainable initiatives predicted future sustainable intentions. Past sustainable behaviors, internal and external constraints, and perceptions of sustainable initiatives were all significant predictors of sustainable behavior during the event. Sustainable behaviour during the event significantly predicted future intentions to engage in sustainable behaviour. In contrast, satisfaction with sustainable initiatives did not significantly predict future intentions, which may reflect the one-off nature of the event and limited prior exposure to sustainability initiatives. These findings underscore the importance of implementing visible, well-designed sustainability initiatives at sports events and of reducing internal and external constraints to encourage environmentally responsible behaviours among both participants and spectators and to foster future sustainable intentions.
