The The United Nations and the Conflict Prevention
Abstract
Conflict prevention is a privileged way for international community
intervention to intervene in conflict management within preventive
diplomacy may develop three kinds of actions: those directed to the
sources of the conflict; to prevent confrontation of becoming violent and, at last, restrain the spread or the increasing of violence. UN Secretary-General has been leading a fundamental role: in this context acting as a privileged third part in conflict prevention or between the litigious parts. The author suggests several complementary actions through which conflict prevention has been achieved such as: NGO’s intervention, development peacekeeping operations, preventive mechanisms and the establishment of demilitarised zones, imposition of targeted sanctions and as a last resort the use of military force to impose peace.
