Introduction: Acute acalculous cholecystitis is rare in pediatric age. It usually is associated with severe pathology, and is rare in healthy children.
Case report: We describe two cases of acute acalculous cholecystitis, with distinct etiologies, diagnosed in two healthy children.
Discussion: We also discuss the pathophysiology, clinical features and management of acute acalculous cholecystitis, enhancing the ultrasound contribution to its diagnosis.
