Introduction: Bell’s Mania (or “delusional mania”) is a serious clinical condition, which consists succinctly in the overlapping of symptoms of delirium and mania. Several authors have contributed to the definition of this nosological entity, although this clinical condition is still poorly understood and there are no diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines, nor much is known of its etiopathogenesis.
Aims: We present a clinical case of a patient who was admitted to a psychiatric ward, with a presentation compatible with Bell’s mania; the diagnostic and therapeutic progress of the case was discussed and a review of the literature was made.
Methods: Non-systematic review of articles searched for in PubMed.
Results and Conclusions: The establishment of Bell’s mania as a subtype of manic episode would be useful not only for standardization of its diagnosis but also for the formulation of appropriate therapeutic recommendations and to provide more information to the scientific community about this clinical condition.
