The current paper will focus on the History of Amadora whilst a locality, and its socio‐demographic evolution up to the time it became a city. The type of population that settled down there, mainly since the fifties. The life story of a family from a slum is presented. The testimonial of two Social Workers characterizes the experience and the way of living of the Cabo Verde population in another slum. Finally a description of the origin of the social exclusion of a fringe of the population and a conclusion concerning the Municipality.
